APT extends its product portfolio to include corrugated tubing made from fluoropolymers

APT Advanced Polymer Tubing, a Masterflex Group brand, is extending its product portfolio to include corrugated tubing made from fluoropolymers.

Corrugated tubes made from fully fluorinated fluoropolymers such as PTFE, FEP and PFA are resistant to virtually all types of chemicals such as solvents, acids and lyes. Irrespective of the polymer used, they have a continuous service temperature of up to +260°C and are even suitable for cryogenic applications (applications in extremely low temperature environments). They are also UV and weather-resistant and virtually do not age.

Corrugated tubes made from fluoropolymers come into their own for applications requiring flexibility and involving extreme chemical resistance combined with high temperature exposure. Typical areas of application include thermal insulation in control cabinet construction, protective tubing in chemical plant construction and supply and exhaust air applications in extreme conditions such as in aircraft galleys and the ventilation systems of stadium roofs.

"As a specialist in the extrusion of fluoropolymers we are constantly developing innovative products and bespoke solutions for our customers. We offer personalised corrugated tube construction with associated tool design and are therefore able to provide swift, flexible solutions with regard to geometry, colours and raw materials", says Holger Heuser, Managing Director of APT.

The company initially plans to offer a standard PFA-based product range with diameters of up to 50mm (around 2 inches). "However, diameters of 100 mm and more are also conceivable", says Heuser.

The addition of corrugated tubing made from fluoropolymers further extends APT's sophisticated product portfolio: "In addition to smooth, heat shrink, spiral and molded tubing made from virtually all fully and partially fluorinated fluoropolymers, we will now also be offering corrugated tubing in our range. At the same time we are continuing to single-mindedly pursue our strategy for creating distinctive solutions for very special application and installation situations", says Heuser.

The Neuss-headquartered company plans to start production this year. APT has been part of the Masterflex Group since 2017.
